evening star.

'Twas noontide of summer,
And midtime of night,
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, through the light
Of the brighter, cold moon
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.

I gazed awhile
On her cold smile
Too cold -- too cold for me;
There passed, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

-Edgar Allan Poe

There has always been something about the Night that filled me with wonder. It's vastness, it's mystery; it has undoubtedly been the muse of my contemplation. Truth has always presented itself to me under her grace. It is at Night when I can gather my thoughts and truly have time to myself. The Night is my place of meditation. Tonight, I sit here by lamplight pondering. What do I ponder? Everything and nothing all at once. There are so many answers I seek it is over-whelming. But it is a burden I choose to endure, willingly. For the only means of liberation is to transcend ignorance by knowledge.

What is knowledge to me? Knowledge, or the act of knowing, is to be familiar with or aware of something. Specifically, truth. And not just truth, but Truth; for it is the only knowledge of importance. I once wondered what Truth was. I had no answer. How can I not know the very thing I seek? I found the definition of Truth to be consistency, constancy. This puzzled me for a while. Where can Truth be found in this universe; a universe that exists through natural processes of change? At that instant, I had an epiphany. The change was the result of Truth. The universe is governed by one (but not limited to) major principle or Truth: the law of physics. From that that the laws of biology and chemistry branch from it. If I were to drop a rock, it will fall. Essentially, a change in position. If I were to drop an apple, not only will it fall, but it will shatter outwardly in all directions: a change in position and a change from order to disorder. These descriptions are only the results of Truth. What are the Truths or principles behind these results? One principle is the law of gravity. There will be some kind of gravitational pull. The result of this principle, this consistent Truth, are objects falling. In space, the strength of the gravitational force of an object to another is proportional to the product of its' masses: the greater the objects, the stronger its gravitational pull. That is the infallible, consistent, constant Truth. It does not change. The apple shattering is the law of entropy: order to disorder. I can also apply this to decomposition. The apple will decompose into its elemental components. These principles are Truths. They are consistent, unchanging. The universe is only the result of these Truths.

So how did these Truths of the universe come to be? Something must make all this possible. Something that is in all things of this universe, some great force. I believe that force is God. God is the energy within all existence. God is energy, energy is God. It is proof that God exists. How do I know God exists? The same way I know existence exists. Because of the very fact that existence is. It is self-confirming. Just as God is self-confirming. Existence, God, energy, Truth, are all interchangeable. They are all the same thing. Nothing can be outside of existence just as nothing can be outside of God. The Law of Conservation of Energy states that "energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but converted." It is no surprise to me that I see this as a Truth about God: He cannot be created nor can He be destroyed. But He can be converted into everything. It is how he is everything. God is everything. He is the stars, the planets, rocks, a breeze, smells, warmth, cold, sounds, colors, Life, everything. He is consistent in everything. He is omni-present. He is Truth. He is the Night sky I so admire. He is my muse. He is the stars that I gaze upon. God is Truth. He is what I seek.
