I'll be honest--holidays do take a great amount of logistics to be orchestrated properly. We plan for that "magic moment" which is when the family is together at the same time with all the food in place. And it's easy to get carried away trying to execute this moment that we lose sight of the true reasons for the holidays. Instead of merriment, it's more about time. Getting there on time. Having the food ready on time. Start cooking on time. Time, time, time. I cannot tell you how many holidays have been soured by stressed individuals trying to get the goods by deadline. And its not a pretty sight--when we have a man down it turns into a rescue mission.

We so easily forget that when you are with family, its home, its warmth, its comfort, its safe. At least its should be. Among our own, they should be the slowest to anger. deadlines and time shouldn't sway the holiday spirit. A cold stuffing, late turkey (or relative) shouldn't ruin the occasion. Because its about the community. The "magic moment" isn't trying to get everyone together at the same time. That is too literal of an interpretation. It's the moment when we have achieved that sense of community and comfort.

It is much easier to have a light heart. If it is easier to be angered, then I would suggest a different approach to the holidays because, quite frankly, you are missing the point.
